Melanie Shivraj

Melanie is a CCE coach that supports schools and teachers to develop more equitable assessments and practices to support student learning. She supports districts with designing quality performance assessments and facilitation of data analysis and action planning. She uses data-driven decision-making to design professional learning experiences for district teachers and administrators. For the past 9 years, she has been in the classroom as a biology teacher focused on anti-racist, equitable education and deepening science engagement for all students. Melanie has served as a science department chair, teacher coach, and DEI committee chair through her teaching career. In addition, she is a SEED Fellow, NSF Scholar, and graduate of the NAATE advanced teacher program. Melanie earned her B.S. in Biology from UNC Chapel Hill and her M.S.Ed from LIU Brooklyn.
