The Center for Collaborative Education (“CCE,” “we” or “us”) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that partners with communities and schools to drive educational outcomes and community empowerment.
This Privacy Policy describes how CCE uses and protects the personal information that is provided by users when using its website at https://cce.org/, the Third Space Website-based Application (“Third Space App”), or when providing services on behalf of a school district, community college, or Local Education Agency (a “School”), which we refer to collectively in this Privacy Policy as, the “Services.”
This Privacy Policy may change over time or be updated, so we recommend that you continually review this page to ensure that you understand updates and changes. You will be notified of any material changes as required by applicable law.
Links to Third Parties
CCE’s website may contain links to other sites that may be of interest to you. Once you click on those links and leave our page, CCE no longer has control over the website to which you are redirected and CCE takes no responsibility for the terms, privacy, or the protection of your personal information processed by those other third-party sites. Third party websites are subject to their own privacy policies, so it is recommended that you review any applicable policies before providing any personal information to those third parties.
Personal Information that is Collected
Personal information, also referred to as “personal data” under certain laws, means any information that identifies, relates to, describes, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular individual. We collect this information directly from you when you provide it to us, or indirectly from you when you interact with our Services. We may also obtain information about you from our third-party service provider or from a School with which you are affiliated.
CCE’s website may collect the following personal information, including, but not limited to:
- Contact information, such as your mailing address, email address, or phone number.
- Demographic information, such as age or gender.
- Financial information, such as your income level, or payment information when you make a donation.
- Professional or employment information, such as the name of your employer and your employment status.
- Internet, technical, or other similar network activity, such as your IP address, log files, and web pages visited on our websites or when using CCE Services.
- Location information, such as IP address.
- Education information, such as your school name, academic transcript, education records, and course of study.
- Communications information, which includes any personal information you provide to us when you contact us by phone or email, or when you provide information to us via the Third Space application.
- Audio, video, and similar information, such as audio, videos, and photographs when you interact with our social media pages or the Third Space App.
- Other personal information, including any other personal information that you may provide to us when interacting with our Services.
- Inferences drawn from any of the personal information described above, in order to create a profile reflecting your preferences, characteristics, predispositions, behaviors, attitudes, intelligence, abilities, or aptitudes.
- Sensitive personal information, such as consumer health data; information revealing racial or ethnic origin; religious beliefs; sexual orientation; citizenship or immigration status (including eligibility to work in the United States).
You have choices about the personal information we collect. Please note, however, that if you choose not to provide personal information that is necessary to provide our Services, you may not be able to use some of our Services.
Use of Your Personal Information
CCE’s Services use personal information collected to provide the best possible experience, particularly to maintain a register of users, and orders if applicable. These emails will be sent to the address you provide and may be canceled anytime.
We may use your personal information for the following purposes to:
- Provide you with the Services, such as connecting you with community resources and programs. Any health information you provide to us will only be used to provide our Services. Any heath information obtained via our provision of Services to Schools will be processed on behalf of, and subject to CCE’s agreement with the applicable School.
- Develop and improve our programs and Services.
- Conduct surveys and communicate with you about the Services we provide or respond to your inquiries.
- Periodically send promotional emails or texts will be sent periodically through our Services with information about donor campaigns, new research products and other marketing information that we consider relevant to you or that may provide you with some benefit.
- Inform you about changes to our Services, and about new products and services offerings from CCE or our community partners.
- Authenticate your identity for login purposes and process payments.
- Use data analytics to improve our Services.
- Create deidentified, statistical, or aggregate data.
- Monitor and protect our intellectual property and Services; to prevent fraudulent or illegal activities; to enforce the CCE Terms of Use; or as otherwise required by law.
Collection and Use of Personal Information from Children
CCE’s Services do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children (defined as individuals under the age of 13) without obtaining parental consent or consent from the School (see, “How We Use Student Personal Information” below). If we learn that we have collected information from a child without parental or School consent, CCE will take steps to remove that information from its servers. In some instances, CCE may use that information only to respond directly to that child (or his/her/their parent or legal guardian) to inform the minor that he/she/they cannot use the Services.
How We Use Student Personal Information
If our Services are being provided to you by a School, CCE will share student personal information collected by CCE with those Schools and that relationship will be disclosed by the School upon form submission. In accordance with our contractual obligations, we use student personal information and parent/guardian information to:
- Provide, improve and analyze our Services and for legitimate educational purposes of the School;
- to send parents and guardians alerts and notices in the Third Space App;
- enforce the legal terms that govern our Services;
- comply with applicable law and protect our and others’ rights, safety and property; and
- follow further instructions of a School.
At all times, student personal information is the property of and under the control of a School, or as required by applicable law, student personal information is the property of and under the control of the applicable eligible student, parent, or guardian.
We do not sell student personal information. We do not use student personal information to target advertisements to or market to students or anyone else, to amass a profile about a K-12 student for a non-educational purpose, or for any purposes prohibited by the Family Educational and Privacy Rights Act or other applicable laws governing the use of student personal information. We do not share student personal information with third party service providers for training of their Artificial Intelligence models for their own purposes. We will not use Personal Student Information for any purpose other than those required or specifically set forth in this Privacy Policy, our Terms of Use, or any other agreement between a School and CCE.
Artificial Intelligence and Your Personal Information
If you interact with the Third Space App or other Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) features that become available, we may process any of the categories of personal information described above to develop or maintain AI data sets and models for internal product development or product improvement purposes.
Our website may incorporate a third-party AI Chat Feature for support purposes. If you interact with the AI chat feature, you are not communicating with a human representative of CCE. Instead, you are communicating with AI software that generates responses to your inputs based on machine-learning algorithms. These AI Chat Features may collect the content of your communications including any personal information you provide it. Any personal information you provide to these AI Chat Features will be used, shared, and stored in accordance with our Terms of Use and this Privacy Policy. Please discontinue use of these AI Chat Features if you do not consent to the collection and use of such personal information by CCE and third parties.
Our Use of Session Replay Technology
We may use software tools called “session replay technology” to monitor how you interact with our Services. The personal information collected by this technology may include which links you click on, pages and content you view, information that you type into our online forms, recordings of mouse clicks and movements, and data about your device or browser.
Disclosure of Your Personal Information
We may disclose your personal information to the following categories of third parties and for the following reasons:
- To third-party service providers, agents, or independent contractors who help us maintain our Services and which provide other administrative services to us.
- To any social programs or community resources in order to connect you with those third parties’ services.
- To a School’s authorized personnel when we are acting on behalf of that School to provide certain services.
- To third parties pursuant to a School’s instruction or with a School’s permission. For example, if a School chooses to integrate our Services with another third-party company’s products or services, then we will share information as instructed.
- To third-party analytics providers to understand how CCE’s Services are being used and to improve or develop our Services.
- To third parties in the course of any corporate reorganization process, including, but not limited to, a third party due diligence process.
- To law enforcement, government agencies, and other related third parties, in order to comply with the law, enforce our policies, or protect our or others’ rights, property, or safety.
- To third parties where necessary to assist in fraud protection and to minimize credit risk.
De-identified Data
De-identified data is information that cannot be reasonably linked to you, or be used to infer characteristics about you, so this data is no longer considered personal information. CCE will only use this information in a deidentified fashion and will not attempt to re-identify such data.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as we have a legitimate business need to do so or as allowed under applicable law, such as tax or accounting requirements.
We may act upon a School’s documented instructions to delete student personal information during and after all School licenses to the Services have expired, unless we are required to retain such information to comply with our legal obligations with law enforcement, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements. Upon instruction to delete student personal information, we will make reasonable efforts to delete and/or de-identify such information in a commercially reasonable manner under applicable laws. Upon the termination of Services provided to a School, we and the School may agree to transfer the School’s student personal information back to the School. In that case, similar to deletion requests, we will act upon a School’s documented instruction to transfer the School’s student personal information to the School and make reasonable efforts to transfer such information in a commercially reasonable amount of time under applicable laws, unless we are required to retain such information to comply with our legal obligations, or with law enforcement, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
International Data Transfers
CCE is based in the United States. If you are located outside of the United States and choose to provide us with your personal information, you understand that your personal information may
be transferred to the United States, which may not have the same data protection laws as the country or region in which you are located.
Security
CCE is highly committed to fulfilling its commitment to keeping your information secure. Accordingly, we implement reasonable physical, technical, and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. Please understand, however, that no data transmissions over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Consequently, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any personal information you transmit to us and you understand that any information that you transfer to us is done at your own risk.
Cookies and Similar Oline Tracking Technologies
When you use our Services, we may utilize online tracking technologies and code-based tools, including, but not limited to, Software Development Kits (“SDKs”), pixels, and analytics and advertising cookies (collectively, “cookies”) to collect data about your location, your activities on our website, your interaction with our emails, and data about your device. We may use both session cookies and persistent cookies. A session cookie disappears after you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser and may be accessed every time you use the Site. We use Google Analytics, a web analytics tool that helps us understand how users engage with our website and allows us to understand traffic patterns to help us improve the design of our Services. Do Not Track (“DNT”) is a privacy preference that users can set in certain web browsers to inform websites and services that they do not want certain information about their webpage visits collected over time and across websites or online services. Disclaimer Regarding Video Content
The Services may contain video content, audiovisual content, or content of a like nature (collectively, “Video Content”). In connection with our provision of Video Content, the Services may utilize online tracking technologies and code-based tools, including, but not limited to, Software Development Kits (“SDKs”), pixels, and advertising or analytics cookies that track information about your activity and webpage-viewing history on the Services (collectively, “cookies”). Cookies on the Services may result in personal information about your activity on the Services being transmitted from your browser to us and third parties, which, in turn, may result in the display of targeted advertisements on third-party websites, platforms, and services, including advertisements for our content. In addition, whether cookies on the Services result in your browser’s transmission of personal information to third parties depends on a number of factors that may be outside of our knowledge or control, including what third-party websites you use, what personal information you have provided to such third parties, and whether (and the extent to which) you have limited the use of cookies by the operators of those third-party websites, platforms, and services.
Control of Your Personal Information
- Requests from Parents, Legal Guardians, Eligible Students, and Authorized School Personnel: If a parent, legal guardian, eligible student, or Authorized School Personnel wishes to request a review, correction, deletion of student personal information, that individual should contact the appropriate School Official of at that School. We will cooperate with the School to fulfill requests pursuant to the School’s verification and instruction within a commercially reasonable amount of time and in compliance with relevant law.
- Third Space App: If you have provided information to CCE via the Third Space App on our website, you may update your information or request its deletion by contacting us at [insert email address]. If a School has provided you with access to the Third Space App, please contact the School for any requests relating to your personal information.
- Newsletter or Email Opt-out: If you have subscribed to our newsletter or other emails about our Services, you may click on the “unsubscribe” link provided within that communication. We will process your unsubscribe request as soon as possible and in accordance with applicable law, but please be aware that in some circumstances you may receive additional messages prior to the unsubscribe request being processed.
- Text or SMS Messaging: We may also offer text/SMS messaging to you. In some circumstances, we might require you to opt-in to receive text messages from us. At any time, you may opt-out of receiving particular text messages from us by texting STOP in response to any text message.
- California’s “Shine the Light” Law: California law permits visitors to our website who are California residents to request certain information regarding CCE’s disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, please contact us at the address provided below and indicate in your request that you are a California resident making a “Shine the Light” inquiry. Please note that CCE does not share your personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
- Nevada’s Privacy Law: Residents of Nevada have the right to opt-out of the sale of certain pieces of their personal information to third parties. Currently, CCE does not engage in such sales.
