Community & School Pre-Apprenticeships and Registered Apprenticeships

CCE’s Pre-Apprenticeship and Registered Apprenticeship programs provide young people with structured, career-aligned opportunities to “earn while they learn.” Through applied learning, mentorship, and deep community–school partnerships, apprenticeships help youth gain the skills, experience, and confidence needed to succeed in meaningful careers.

Our apprenticeship pathways are rooted in CCE’s Powered Up Approach, which brings together educators, families, industry partners, and community members to co-design programs that reflect local goals and needs. By connecting classroom learning to real-world environments, apprenticeships create strong bridges between education and the workforce.

Pre-Apprenticeships: Early Exposure and Applied Learning

CCE’s pre-apprenticeship programs introduce youth to career pathways through:

  • Work-based learning experiences
  • Applied, hands-on projects
  • Credit-bearing elective classes during the school day
  • Mentorship from community and industry partners
  • Foundational skills aligned with future employment

Pre-apprenticeship students build practical experience and explore occupations of interest while receiving support from educators and mentors who guide their learning.

What Pre-Apprenticeship Students Experience

  • Career exploration
  • Professional skill development
  • Real-world simulations aligned with industry
  • Mentoring relationships
  • Structured opportunities to refine career interests

Students leave the pre-apprenticeship phase better prepared for continued training or full apprenticeship enrollment.

Registered Apprenticeships: Advanced Training and Employment

Registered Apprenticeships offer extended, paid learning opportunities that expand on pre-apprenticeship foundations. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, there were nearly 27,000 registered apprenticeship programs in the U.S. in 2021—reflecting national growth in this proven workforce model.

CCE Registered Apprenticeships Provide:

  • Paid on-the-job training
  • Supervision and mentorship from experienced professionals
  • A weekly salary (up to $600 for 35 hours per week, for applicable programs)
  • Hands-on experience that leads to industry or civil service employment

Registered apprenticeships help youth transition into stable employment while continuing to develop the skills needed for advancement.
